Janterm: Paris

Since I published the pictures from London a couple weeks ago, I figured I shouldn’t leave Paris out. While we studied abroad for Janterm, we had a weekend off. Mollie, Hannah, Brittany and I took an EasyJet flight to Paris. This was my third time in the city, but it was refreshing to experience it with some first-timers. Plus, we were on our own agenda, which made everything even better.

I really played with my shutter speed in Paris, and got some of my favorite pictures from it.

Londontown

How is it that I never put my London pictures here? Well, it’s been almost a year, so here’s a little throwback.

Last Janterm (a mini semester at Samford during January), I was lucky enough for my family to fund a couple of the best weeks of my life. I got to study abroad with a bunch of my friends in London, and was even there for New Year’s Eve. We watched the fireworks over the Thames River, right next to Big Ben.

I can’t think of a better place to study art and theatre. I saw a total of eight plays/musicals and went to a ton of museums and historical buildings.

I also set out to make a video of each day’s adventures. It was a lofty goal, and I still haven’t finished, but I’ll include what’s done below.

Bid Day 2013

I got to attend Bid Day (also known as “Squeal”) at Samford University on Monday, Sept. 13. These pictures should explain the reason for the nick name for those of you who have never been to a Samford Bid Day. You can’t help but smile at the pure joy on the girls’ faces!

Zeta Acre

The first home tailgate of the year was this past weekend. Samford played West Alabama. I brought Millie, who quickly stole the show of course. My sorority had the biggest tailgate on the Quad and was appropriately named “The Zeta Acre.”  We had three tents all spread out with tables in between and great mexican food from Lime.

Tailgate

I know it’s barely even summer break now, but you’re crazy if you can honestly say you aren’t excited for tailgate season to come back around.

Lomography

Lomography is a trendy type of photography that has become a world-wide phenomenon since it first exploded onto the photography scene in the 1990s. Below are some pictures that I took using both my DSLR and photoshop, and some free apps I downloaded to my iPhone. I carried both around with me for one day and took pictures from my hip, for the most part.

Rawr Fingasaurs

In photography class, we did a Dollar Tree challenge. We got one item and did a photoshoot with it. Luckily, I found these FingaSaurs and they were pretty great. Mr. Beeson even enjoyed modeling them for me.

Bulldog Baseball vs. Auburn

Samford University’s baseball team hosted a game against Auburn University on March 27, 2012. The game had an explosive ending when Samford’s Phillip Ervin hit a walk-off grand slam to push the Bulldogs ahead of the Tigers for an 8-5 win. Step Sing 2012

Step Sing 2012 came to an exciting close on February 18 in Samford University‘s Wright Center. Dudes-A-Plenty, an all-male independent group, took home their third consecutive Sweepstakes trophy.  DAP’s show was titled “Rush” and the men portrayed miners during the gold rush of ’49. IGnite, a new group of independent and greek women, won first runner-up for their Nun-themed show.  Second runner-up was awarded to Zeta Tau Alpha who performed as skeletons.
